Meet Bruce Thompson on Trombone and Keyboard

Bruce grew up in Perry, NY, where he graduated from Perry Central School. He earned his Bachelors and Masters in music education from Ithaca College and has done additional graduate work at Nazareth College & the Eastman School of Music.

Bruce taught elementary and middle school instrumental music for nine years at Wayne Central School and for the past twenty five years has taught at the high school level at Marion Central School. His responsibilities include wind ensemble, jazz and concert band and marching band.

He has served as Associate Conductor of the Perinton Concert Band and is Past President of the Wayne County Music Educators Association and has received the University of Rochester's Outstanding Teacher Award. He is active as a trombonist and guest conductor in the Rochester area.

In addition, Bruce is the recipient of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Outstanding Music Educator Award (Band); the second member of our group to be so honored!

Bruce and his wife Shelly have two daughters and reside in Webster, NY.
